Capt Thomas Sabatino

Capt Thomas Sabatino, CAP joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1988 and became an AEO as a result of his teaching career. While working toward a master’s degree in Geology, planetary sciences, at CSU Fresno Capt Sabatino cofounded the NASA Regional Education Resource Center at the School of Education Human Development and was its director for 6 years.

Capt Sabatino received the Crown Circle Award in Aerospace Education, presented in 1996 and also received the Crossfield Award for Aerospace Educators, becoming “Crossfield Kid number 11”.

Capt Sabatino and his wife, Carrollann, moved out of Fresno and he was out of CAP for several years and opon retiring from 36 year career teaching the sciences, he rejoined CAP, completed his level 3 to earn a Master rating in Aerospace Education, and received his second “Crossfield Award”.  Capt Sabatino also recently completed the requirements for a Technician rating as Character Development Instructor.

Capt Sabatino has participated in one virtual and two live Aerospace Education STEM Academy events at Edwards AFB as well as multiple AE presentations for “STEM for Girls Conferences” and “NorCal Science Festivals”.

Capt Sabatino is actively working toward completion of Level 4 and, for CAP Aerospace Education topics, he is continuing research on the early X planes, Lifting Bodies, the rocket motors that powered them, and current Hypersonic research projects.
