Col Ross Veta

Col Ross Veta, CAP hails from an extensive background in government research and corporate America where he managed landmark projects ranging from the development of stealth resin technology at Air Force Materials Laboratories (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) to development of the MD-90 and A320 propulsion systems at United Technologies and Manager at the Global Contracts Center of Expertise at Hewlett Packard. His corporate career ranges from aerospace engineer to program manager and ultimately global procurement and corporate law. He is now the managing partner at Veta & Veta Attorneys at Law and is one of San Diego’s senior and most prominent attorneys.

Col Veta has been a member of Civil Air Patrol for over 16 years as a Cadet and Senior Member. As a Cadet, he was a squadron charter member and achieved the grade of C/Lt Col. During his Cadet career, he attended the prestigious Air Force Academy Survival Course, was CTG commander, and served as the Great Lakes Region CAC Chair.

Col Veta has been the California Wing Commander since September 2019 and has served as Deputy Commander and Squadron Commander of San Diego Cadet Squadron 144 and Commander of San Diego Group 8 for over 9 years and as a Legal Officer for Civil Air Patrol during the entire time. As a Pilot, Mission Observer and Ground Team Leader, he has been very active in Emergency Services having been awarded numerous finds. He has developed and provided valuable innovations in ground missions, ES, ES training, and Cadet Programs throughout the Wing.

Col Veta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Redlands and a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Col Veta is also a graduate of the Harvard Law School Program for Professional Negotiators.

Col Veta is married to Suzanne Eriqat Veta and has three sons, David, Jacob, and Nathan, all of whom have been members of Civil Air Patrol, along with his wife who is a member of Wing and National Staff.
