1st Lt Clair Gregory is this year’s Project Officer. 1st Lt Gregory has been in Civil Air Patrol since she was 12. She was promoted to C/Maj and served as the Group 5 Color Guard Commander, PCR Drill Team member, and Squadron 85 Cadet Commander, now operating as the finance officer, Alpha Flight FTO, and Color Guard Coach. She currently works for JP Morgan as a Private Client Banker.
2d Lt Samantha Moat is serving as this year’s Protocol Officer and Head of Registration. She joined CAP at 12, serving as the Aerospace NCO, Bravo Flight Sergeant, Group 5 Color guard member, and PCR Drill Team member. Lt Moat now operates as the Aerospace Officer, Bravo Flight FTO, Color Guard coach, and Wing Social Media Manager. She is currently working as a certified Paralegal and Notary Public.
Col Alan Ferguson joined CAP at the age of 14, serving over 50 years in the program. He has held numerous positions, including Squadron Commander three times, Group Commander twice, and Wing Commander. He now operates as the Wing Director of Logistics. He has actively engaged in all three CAP missions throughout his life. Thank you for your voluntary service, Colonel!
Maj Steve Groner has served as CAWG Director of IT for 9 years. Responsible for the creation of our online email platform, Office 365. He has developed and launched numerous tools in use by CAWG such as Pacific Region Mobile App (PRMA) and TRACS v3.0. Maj Groner is also heavily involved Emergency Services as an IC2.
1st Lt Richard West has been a member of Civil Air Patrol since March 2017. Lt West serves as San Jose Senior Squadron 80 Commander and San Francisco Bay Group 2 Assistant Emergency Services Officer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lt West has been on the forefront of converting real-world events into their virtual equivalents.
1st Lt Stephen White first joined Civil Air Patrol as a cadet in 1983 and did his first solo at a CAP Washington Wing Glider Solo Encampment. Lt White earned his private pilot license in 1998 and just passed 1000hrs TT. Since rejoining CAP in 2018, Lt White is now qualified as MS, MO, AP, MSA, CERT, and UDF-T, and is working on finishing Mission Pilot qualification. Lt White holds technician ratings in Information Technology and Aerospace Education and currently serves as California Wing Aerospace Education IT Liaison Officer, Cyber Education Officer, and FlightSim Officer as well as Squadron 35 Mission Aircrew and IT Officer.
Capt Michael Freed joined Civil Air Patrol in 2016 after a long time as an instrument-rated private pilot. Capt Freed has achieved many of his goals in the CAP paths he has chosen to follow, serving his Squadron in various positions and earning multiple Senior ratings, becoming a Level 3 Instructor in VOLU, an Incident Commander trainee, becoming a CFI/Instructor Pilot, becoming a glider tow pilot, working on add-on glider ratings so he can further serve the Glider Training Squadron, becoming a CDI and helping to edit The Transmitter, the national journal of the Chaplain Corps. Capt Freed continues his training and education activities in spite of the limitations and difficulties presented by Covid-19 restrictions.
C/Lt Col Colin Rodriguez has been in Civil Air Patrol for 7 years. He has served as the Cadet Deputy Commander for Operations for 2019 Cadet Training Group, Cadet Commander for Aerospace Education STEM Academy, and Cadet Commander for Squadron 84. He currently works for JP Morgan Chase as an Associate Banker.
